Denise
Beckfield, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist who has specialized in the
treatment of panic and anxiety over the past eighteen years, treating
individuals and groups, and offering training for professionals at various
levels. She has written and spoken
to both professionals and anxiety sufferers on topics including the emotional
underpinnings and susceptibility to panic, and has also authored a chapter on
that subject in a text for professional clinicians. She contributes
articles to several self-help newsletters on panic and anxiety, and is
currently a member of the ADAA's Bookstore Task Force, reviewing new books
for anxiety sufferers and their families.
Though
she's recently decreased her professional commitments in order to spend
more time with her husband and two children, Dr. Beckfield remains active
in the area of panic disorder, speaking and writing on the topics of panic
and anxiety.
